Violin | Viola

Maya True-Fogel
Schedule: Mon – Wed | Sat
Maya recently graduated from UC Davis with a B.A. in Music Performance on viola and a minor in Education. Her musical journey began at age 9 on the violin, and she continued to explore her passion at the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts before transitioning to viola during her freshman year. Throughout high school, Maya enjoyed performing with a variety of groups, including the California All-State Orchestra, the Young People’s Symphony Orchestra in Oakland, and the BAYOF Orchestra. She received world-class chamber music coaching from members of the Kronos and Alexander String Quartets and has performed in various venues including the SF Jazz Center and Davies Symphony Hall. During her time at UC Davis, Maya was involved with the UC Davis Symphony Orchestra and participated in other musical groups such as the Bluegrass Ensemble, Empyrean Ensemble, and Sinfonietta. While her training is rooted in classical music as a violist/violinist, Maya has developed a deep appreciation for other genres, including new/modern music and Bluegrass. As a teacher, Maya strives to create a warm and supportive environment where her students can explore their musical potential and build confidence. Maya believes in making lessons enjoyable and engaging while focusing on establishing strong foundational skills for her students’ musical growth.
